We’ve all been there: ill, in front of a computer screen, and staring at Google’s search box while paranoically asking the engine to provide us with an answer that promises to make us healthy again. Surely, many of us pressed the “enter” button after typing the keywords “What’s wrong with me?” and have been hit with a plethora of diagnoses, treatments, and remedies. And most of the time, the suggested medical treatment pops up after the desperate user completes a quick dodgy quiz.

Finally, there is an online test that can actually help users get the ‘right’ answers. Hosted by “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” film’s official online platform and made to support the movie’s launch in cinemas, the test is nothing like you’ve seen before. Written by Watson Design Group, the WebGL experience that celebrates the thriller masterpiece by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos opens with an interactive routine checkup that, once completed, gives the impression of being a credible medical online test.

An image depicting an anatomical silhouette of a human is strategically placed right at the beginning of the quiz; only to trick your mind into thinking that you are dealing with a legitimate test that helps you discover what is the exact cause of your physical pain. Yet, the image is just an optical illusion that hides the real interests of the virtual doctor. Instead of focusing on your physical symptoms, the website actually reveals the mental condition that pushed you to ask for this kind of help.

Your clinical trial begins right after you pick the area that causes you the most trouble from the interactive body diagram. Once you click on the aching spot, you land right in the middle of the film’s scenario where a series of movie-related questions allow you to self-diagnose. There is a couple of potential diseases you may suffer from, which we are not going to reveal. Why don’t you try it out for yourselves? Not happy with the results? Well, you can always ask for a second opinion, in which case you have to focus on another body part and respond differently when you retake the quiz.

To make the experience as intense as the film’s plot, the Los Angeles-based studio took every single question of the quiz and married it to a series of excerpts from the movie. Your sensorial journey is also paved with eerie background music, which adds an even more dramatic touch to the horrifying atmosphere that surrounds almost every scene of the film.

Also, to complete the dramatic adventure, the creatives made sure that all the essential information about the movie is accessible to anyone. Besides the checkup, they included the synopsistrailer, and links to the tickets within the site.

So, are you ready to check your health status? Well, then let’s get you in there and ask the ‘real’ doctors to have a look. Although the artists promise you won’t feel a thing, you might want to sit down for this routine medical exam… and maybe have a look at the official trailer for the movie:
