If Amazon’s Alexa had a job, what would she do? Become a comedian? Not really, although she proved that she could easily be confused with a comedian when she just recently trolled pretty much anyone owing the device. But laughing randomly and scaring roommates proved not to be a viable option for Alexa. Instead, she expanded her horizons in the music industry.

After listening to her show alongside South-London rap crew Too Many T’s, we can definitely say that music runs through her veins (well, rather through her speakers). OK, OK, she already showed us that she can sing, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t applaud Alexa’s latest performance, which, by the way, is pretty cool.

Picking up a big name to partner with to boost your musical career might be considered a cliché, not to mention that a well-known hip-hop celebrity doesn’t just randomly pop up during your recording session. So, to promote their new album and tour, but also to get broader recognition in the US, British duo Ross Standaloft and Leon Rhymez turned their attention to the popular voice of Alexa.

As the world’s first, and with the support of Serviceplan Innovation and music creative Henan Wensink, the rap band launched their song “Featuring Alexa,” in which the virtual assistant starts to sing along when triggered by the voice commands given by the two rappers. The result is an interactive duet between the three of them, with Alexa’s voice taking center stage.

The four-minute-long music video showcases the two members of Too Many T’s sitting in the recording studio thinking of a plan of how to become as famous as Kanye West. They immediately conclude that part of the singer’s fame is due to the autotune voice effect, which sadly isn’t a match for our protagonists’ singing skills. So, they have to figure out another way to sing in autotune. That’s when they reach for Alexa’s help, asking her to donate some of her ‘masterful’ music abilities. Much to their surprise, the skillful gadget does. And although we think the result is amazing, we will let you form your own opinion. Listen to Alexa’s latest single below!

“Everyone knows Alexa. Not enough people know Too Many T’s. Using Alexa in an innovative way to promote these great artists to a global audience is a great example of how a great idea can beat big budget,” said Alexander Schill, Global Chief Creative Officer, Serviceplan Group commented.

The video was released with and without Alexa’s answers so that you can play with your own device and inspect the amazing rap skills of the digital assistant. Just bring your Alexa device closer to the speakers, hit the play button, and listen to her one-of-a-kind performance. Let the beat drop!
