There are many things that are supposed to boost your brainpower. Amongst habits that will allegedly make you smarter are reading, playing and listening to music, keeping a journal, being selective, and plenty of others. Yes, some of these might sound a bit far-fetched, however there’s one thing that promises you to keep you smarter: exercising! Did you know that 30 minutes of sports a day can make you more intelligent? Well, you won’t become Einstein, but you get the point, right?

According to neuroscientists, exercising is proved to be the real way to boost your brain! Understandably, Swedish sports fashion brand Björn Borg decided to take advantage of this phenomenon to promote its latest clothing line. How, might you ask? Well, it worked closely with creative agency NORD DDB and came up with the world’s smartest workout track, titled “Symphonia Exercitii Et Intelligentiae.” According to the agency, the ‘symphony’ was composed using a BPM backed by science. It will not only increase your workout results, but it also promises to make you smarter. Getting smarter and fitter at the same time? Who wouldn’t want that?

The whole experience leads up to a 10-minute-long symphony, which was composed by a noted classical composer Jonas Valfridsson and has been performed by a Swedish orchestra. In his own words, the maestro explains what this adventure means to him: “To be asked to write a symphony for training was an unusual request and a challenge as a composer. With inspiration from my favorite Rocky I workout anthems, it feels like I have composed the soundtrack to my own superhero movie! I also wanted the piece to have an upbeat and rhythmic feel, without losing the melodies and counterpoints of classical music. Through the music, I want to convey the feeling of facing a challenge and the proudness in fighting and overcoming it.”

This whole workout number is now available on Spotify, inviting everyone to add it to their playlist and start working out. This way, they can boost both their muscles and their brains. According to Lennart Högman, Senior Lecturer and Researcher in cognitive neuroscience, working out increases the production of new brain cells: “Physical exercise is beneficial for more than your body – research shows it can improve your cognitive abilities such as memory and focus. It has also been found that listening to music while working out will increase your endurance. Also, some say music with a set BPM of 120-140 can be ideal for a workout (depending somewhat on your fitness level). Conclusively, listening to classical music while working out can raise both your motivation as well as endurance, and in turn, bump up your cognitive performance.”

Whilst filming the video, Björn Borg moved its ‘office’ to a concert hall. There, a team of highly trained athletes tried their best to last through the pumping symphony, which was performed live by the Jönköpings Sinfonietta.

Now, you can have a listen to the song yourselves. Then let us know how it made you feel. We don’t know yet about you, but we definitely feel more energized after we listened to this piece of music! It has become branding.news‘s office anthem! The question is if it has made us any smarter…
