The Advertising Hall of Fame celebrates industry legends, who, throughout their trailblazing careers, have distinguished themselves with outstanding, nationally- and globally-recognized professional achievements; remarkable innovations that have changed the industry and the culture; and exceptional philanthropic work both within the advertising industry and in their communities. Since its inception in 1949, over 250 advertising legends and eight iconic global companies have been elected to the Hall.
The event is among the advertising industry’s biggest and most prestigious of the year, attended by nearly 1,000 C-suite and senior-level executives from the world’s largest brands, advertising agencies, media, and tech companies and is the largest fundraiser for the Federation providing a vital source of funding necessary to continue the wide range of educational, multicultural, and advocacy initiatives that are critical to our industry.
The Advertising Hall of Fame:
- Honors the extraordinary achievements of advertising leaders – from their significant contributions to the advertising industry to their personal commitment to society.
- Educates members of the industry and academia on the history and foundation of advertising, marketing, and the creative process.
- Inspires current and attracts future advertising professionals by providing the standards by which great leaders and accomplishments are measured.
Each year, the Council of Judges and its executive committee are appointed by the president of the American Advertising Federation and chair of the Advertising Hall of Fame. These distinguished industry executives are chosen from the ranks of advertisers, agencies, media organizations and academic institutions in the United States. The Council of Judges considers the election of either living or deceased persons whose record of advertising and service must be accomplished in the United States or with an American company abroad. To be eligible, individuals must be retired from their primary careers.
