Looks like mobile phone brand Motorola hit the jackpot with its thinnest — and arguably — best modular phone in the world. To deliver a better experience for tech enthusiasts, the Moto Z line brings the “build out your smartphone” fun concept along with it. Consumers are able to boost their phone’s performance using one of Moto Mods’ accessories: Swappable BacksIncipio offGRID™ Power PackJBL SoundBoost speakerInsta-Share Projector, and Hasselblad True Zoom. There is no doubt that the Z experience is truly fascinating, with the last feature mainly drawing our attention.

It is already well known that Hasselblad cameras were used during the Apollo program missions, capturing some amazing photos of the first Moon landing. The two devices, Moto Z and Hasselblad True Zoom, should have the power to deliver the same high-quality prints as the ones shot during the first lunar landing, and to prove this, Motorola got in touch with Estadão, one of the largest media outlets in Brazil, and F.biz, a WPP agency.

Together, the three partners focused on changing the way news is delivered and launched the Hello News Project: an interesting approach of providing breaking news to readers.

During the project, which proved to be a really successful experiment, Estadão’s photojournalists switched their normal and high-performance equipment with Moto Z + Hasselblad. Using the high-tech tools provided by Motorola, the newspaper’s images were replaced with those shot with Hasselblad True Zoom. For three months, more than 300 photos have been published in one of the largest and respected newspapers in Brazil, reaching 2.4 million people.

The images captured were accompanied by a subtitle where the phone was mentioned as the camera for the photo shoot and appeared for the first time on the newspaper’s front page. Later, the prints conquered other news sections, such as economy, entertainment, and politics.

The newspaper also has a digital hub that hosts all the materials made by the journalists using Moto’s gear. Things did not stop there, as the audience’s attention was drawn towards an amazing art gallery. The “Photojournalism in our hands” exhibit was a good reason to celebrate True Zoom’s features and also to promote the Insta-Share Projector mode while some of the photos were projected during the event.

João Fábio Caminoto, Director of Journalism at Grupe Estado expressed his opinion regarding the use of a smartphone as a device for capturing newspaper photos: “Connecting the professional quality of a Hasselblad with the ease of a smartphone is a true revolution for photojournalism.”

The experiment was recorded by F.biz via a 2-minute-long video, through which viewers can discover the good quality device, worthy of a big newspaper’s front page. Also this project, which is backed by an inspiring website, is taking part in some creative festivals and has already won the Grand Prix at the Wave Awards.
