To mark the launch of their new store in Exeter, Swedish furniture retailer Ikea brought its “Wonderful Everyday” campaign to the region. Committed to shaping a nice, and affordable, home for each of its clients but also to show how good of a neighbor Ikea is, the brand prepared a series of mini-events and installations specially designed for the community’s residents. They were all invited to hop on an adventure and experience those little things in life that make our daily lives more beautiful.

The “Wonderful Everyday” project also contains a humorous video that empowers people to not only dress and behave according to their own personal style but also to unleash their artistic spirit on their walls and furniture too. Within its most recent ad “Ikea Ghosts,” the furniture company asks the viewers to get creative with its fabrics and dress their homes just the way they like it, using its highly-colored textiles.

The 60-second spot, the result of a close collaboration between Ikea, creative agency Mother London, movie studio MPC, and award-winning director Dougal Wilson, was created to tickle some ribs and give everyone who sees it a feeling of good vibes.

When the cat’s away, the mice will play, goes an old saying. The thing is that our protagonists, who open the video’s events, seem not to truly understand the real meaning of the proverb. Aware of the fact that they are finally home alone, a bunch of not-so-spooky ghosts in white sheets gathered in the living room for a smooth, casual party.

Everything looks ridiculously boring until a group of colorful ghosts crashes in and cheers up everyone’s mood. Armed with good music and fun, the newcomers set the party’s amusing tone. The incredible lust for life and their pretty contagious spirit seemed to be just enough to make the other unearthly beings join the party. Check out the video below to see how the party unfolds.

With the “Ghosts” video, the Swedish company proves that anything can be turned into something interesting if you’re brave enough to step outside of your comfort zone and try something different.

The campaign is supported by print, digital, and outdoor and it can be seen in cinemas and on TV across Ireland and the UK. Moreover, people can take an interesting personality test to find out what type of textiles suit their personality best, on Ikea’s webpage dedicated to this initiative.

It should come as no surprise to hear that Ikea loves its own products. But the company is very much of a fan of music too. In fact, the brand believes that music and textiles go so well together that it set a stage for them to show how good partners they really are.

To prove this, Ikea joined hands with indie-pop band Teleman and launched a music video, which shows room furniture adopt Ikea’s modern design patterns that change according to the beat of the music. Get your rock shoes on!
