Although Portugal barely made it through the group stages at Euros 2016, their biggest star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has received a lot of criticism because of his performances; at least if you want to talk about his footballing qualities. Still, not only he made history as a first player to score at 4 European Championship tournaments with his two goals against Hungary, moreover CR7 – also the name of his personal underwear brand – has really delivered a performance worthy of a Hollywood actor in Nike’s latest short film, The Switch.

Nike has launched a short film starring the Portuguese superstar and 16 other professional football players including Raheem Sterling, Joe Hart, Harry Kane, Megan Rapinoe, Ricardo Quaresma, Cedric Soares, Vieirinha, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Sergi Roberto and Javier Mascherano.

It is the longest of Nike Football’s videos (with running time almost 6 minutes) and we think that story- and acting-wise their best. Also, as Nike puts it: “”The Switch” is the most extensive brand shoot Cristiano Ronaldo has ever done, for any company. It required five days of filming, all completed in Spain. Ronaldo performed his own stunts in the initial collision scene, which was done in just three takes.”

Nike has made real progress, making all the effort their videos would feel like a real match. Now you can even see what it would be like if every-day football-loving teenagers’ dreams came through and instead of looking at their idol’s posters, they would be looking at their “hacienda”, sports car and other top players competing at the highest level. Feel the intensity for yourselves.
