Music is one of the most powerful means of expression. It goes hand-in-hand with dance to form a language that allows us to connect without even speaking to each other. Regardless of our language, culture, sex, religion, or ethnicity, music bears the power to unite us all through emotions and inspiration.

In a bid to show that music indeed is a language understood by everyone in the world, Mixmag Magazine teamed up with Smirnoff and documented music’s power in a new campaign that invites everyone to the “Global Dancefloor.” The project features nine episodes, where each presents international artists who graciously joined the initiative to show just how important music is. There are nine countries participating in the project and each of them introduces one of their most audacious musicians.

Twenty artists, such as Black CoffeeMadam X, and Octopizzo, guide listeners through a memorable acoustic journey, which taps into the musical uniqueness of each culture featured in the documentary series. Although quite different, these cultures are profoundly linked to each other, thanks to their local music and impact it has on the global scene.

The project debuted on May 1st with the first episode unfolding deep in the heart of Africa, Kenya. It features artist Octopizzo, the country’s biggest rapper alongside hip-hop group and music collective Cosmic Homies with lyricist and rapper Barak Jacuzzi. The musicians all gathered in one place as to show how fellow Kenyans can connect through hip-hop.

The second video takes us to the other side of the world, to the UK bass scene, where DJ and producer Madam X proves that Manchester’s dance scene doesn’t have to be dominated by a single style or gender.

“I think at the end of the day the universal language is music, so it doesn’t matter what gender you are. It’s just having a good time. That’s basically what made me the person I am,” comments the artist.

The third episode takes up back to Africa, only this time to South Africa where we meet with Black Coffee, accompanied by the country’s biggest radio personality DJ Fresh and House Afrika label head Tim White. The video introduces house music to the viewership and the way it gradually became a major part of everyday life in the country.

The next episode takes us to Bangkok, Thailand, where talented women are more than ready to make the country known in the whole world for its techno music. To help out, Smirnoff and Mixmag summoned local artist Nakadia, Thai native Mendy Indigo, and XO809 to show just how important the community really is in helping Thailand’s nightlife scene bloom on the international stage.

Global Dancefloor’s latest episode takes place in India, where music enthusiasts are joining hands with artists Shaan and Anish Sood to celebrate the positivity of dance music. Watch as the talented musicians do their best to prove that dance music has a place among the country’s 200 languages. Also, don’t forget to follow Mixmag’s webpage dedicated to the campaign to stay up-to-date with the upcoming episodes. When the project is complete, it will unleash a global dancefloor! Let the beat drop!
