Spark44‘s last experience executed for Land Rover was an epic one. Just to remind you: A few months ago, the agency sent a Range Rover Sports PHEV to participate in the so-called “Dragon Challenge” where the car had to overcome all the 999 steps of the Heaven’s Gate, deep in the heart of the Tianmen Mountain, China.

Now, the brand travels to South Asia, namely to India, where it lets passionate locals tell us more magical tales that the company’s cars had been involved for years. The automaker celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. But the party doesn’t take place somewhere fancy. Rather, Land Rover decided to mark this milestone in a place where it is said that all roads meet: Maneybhanjang, in West Bengal, pretty close to Sandakphu, the highest peak of the area. Talk about a location!

As part of the brand’s huge celebration, Spark44 crafted a 3-minute-long video titled “The Land of Land Rovers” which brings the viewers to Maneybhanjang, which lies at 1,523 meters above the sea level. Here, they can digitally meet the locals, who seem to be very proud of living in the land of these powerful and strong cars. According to its residents, the rural community boasts about 42 Land Rovers, which are about 60 years old. So, unlike the Dragon Challenge, there are no hi-tech jeeps involved!

Still, the Land Rovers are their most trustworthy companions they can rely on when they take on the journey to the Sandakphu, which towers at an altitude of 3,636 meters. You would probably have thought that the 999 steps of the Heaven’s Gate were challenging enough. Yet, you’d be wrong! You can’t reach the top of the tall mountain that easily.

When it’s rainy outside, the slopes become muddy, creating a huge barrier in the attempt of conquering the mountain. But when at the wheel of a Land Rover, the locals have no fears: “We fear traveling in other vehicles because the road conditions are very challenging,” explains one of the brave men in the video.

The remote community relies on the old SUVs for its survival. Clearly, the locals put themselves in danger when they go uphill. It makes us cringe a bit by just looking at the video. Now imagine that you are on such a road to the top of the mountain… Although the journey is perilous enough, when the locals finally get up there, they get a chance to enjoy the view offered by the highest peaks of the Himalayas, which are simply breathtaking!

Besides the docu-style video, the agency created more short videos, which highlight the stories of three locals. One of them depicts a man and the bond he has with his vehicle. The second one depicts a man who, helped by a Land Rover, succeeds to help his children receive a good education. The last one shows a woman who grew up in a family of Land Rover lovers and wants to overcome a new challenge: to drive the new Discovery up to Sandakphu. Will she succeed? Check out the videos below and find out it yourselves!
