Home is where your heart is. My home is my castle. Home sweet home. These are just a few sayings we use to show how fond we are of the place we live in. As Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory sit-com cleverly points out: “mankind spent thousands of years trying to perfect inside!” Why? To feel safe, to keep our families safe (unless you’re Home Alone), to spend our free time there, or just to enjoy a good night’s sleep. It’s a place that we keep dearest to our hearts. And until you have your own home, you will probably not understand the difference between a house and a home.

Well, there Is one more option. You can have a listen to the latest campaign by the #1 brand in Canadian Real Estate with nearly 20,000 agents, RE/MAX, and at least get a feeling of how important a home can be. And it’s definitely not about the size, nor location. You should also be in the mood for some poetry, as the video introduces a poem that tries to explain this important difference with beautiful words by spoken-word artist, Kyprios.

Vancouver-based, fiercely-independent communication firm Elevator commissioned the former hip-hop artist to help the brand launch their new campaign: Home Sweeter Home. And as the tagline suggests, living in a home by RE/MAX shall be even better than the usual sweet proverb.

That’s because RE/MAX has been the leading real estate organization in Canada for more than 20 years. But, in case you are not familiar with either RE/MAX or Elevator, just watch the pre-roll video that precedes the full campaign to get an idea.

But back to the main course… The reasons for having your own home build up with each verse, as Kyprios—who is also one of the voices for Michael Jordan’s website jumpman23.com—narrates with his soft speech a list all the great features one can just not achieve by having ‘extra square footage’ or a ‘house on a hill with a view’. We need it to become a home too!

Just watch below and find out that values, responsibility, community, and culture – all these need to be cherished more than a large living room, as only these are homegrown. Because you can build a house, but you can’t build a home…
