“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it,” said Paulo Coelho, a statement that’s reinforced by DocMorris‘ protagonist in its latest campaign. The film, directed by Sune Sorensen and agency Jung von Matt/SAGA, revolves around an elderly man who is motivated to accomplish something. He embarks on a personal mission, getting up very early in the morning to do his workout routine. Is this a late-life-crisis or is he trying to prove something?

So, what’s this really about? The answer to this question varies depending on life itself. The pharmacy is here to help its customers take care of themselves so that they can enjoy the things that really matter in life.

The two-minute-and-forty-second-long video has gone viral, having gathered ten million views on YouTube in less than three weeks since its launch. And once you see it, you will understand why! The ad’s hero, the old man, wakes up in the morning, and he looks like having no motivation at all. He sighs before finally getting out of bed. But his wall adorned with family pictures and the man outside his window carrying a Christmas tree trigger something in him, so he is ready to start a personal development journey.

He goes through different stages of the mind: failure, success, and he doesn’t care about others’ opinion. Yet, each of his sessions starts with his motivation. Speaking about the hero of the ad, the director says: “I was immediately attracted to the lone portrayal of the protagonist as well as the dynamics of viewing him from both inside-out and outside-in. Delving into his development and motivations, the stages of conviction, failure, disbelief, comic relief, recovery, and so on, lends itself with quite a few rewards — not least when working with the actors.”

We started the story with a quote from Coelho and we will end on the same note: “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” Just the thought that there was a possibility to achieve his goal was exactly what the man needed to take action and work towards fulfilling his dream. And so, his mornings didn’t start with a sigh anymore but with a motivation to keep going. His life really became more interesting!
