After a year of social distancing, wearing masks, and travel bans, amongst others, humanity sees “some light at the end of the tunnel” in the context of COVID-19 vaccines. According to CDC, those who have been fully vaccinated can start doing some activities that they have stopped doing because of the pandemic. So, what do you miss from your daily life before the outbreak?

The list is quite long and you probably have your own answers. But what about strictly resuming to family, friends, and travel? How can we bring all these together? According to the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau (VisitLEX), people’s first reason to travel is to visit family and friends. And now that things are starting to get back to normal, there are plenty of ways to invite your loved ones over. But how do you do it? Via a text message, an email, or a phone call? How about encouraging them to come and visit you the old-fashioned way, using a postcard?

Wanting to attract immunized visitors to Lexington and coinciding with National Tourism Week (celebrated May 2-8), VisitLEX teamed up with creative marketing agency CORNETT and launched Post(Vaccine)Cards. Developed to make it easy for locals to send original illustrations to their vaccinated loved ones, the cards can be found at the Visitors Center, with both the cards and the postage provided by VisitLEX for free.

The creatives designed three beautifully illustrated cards, featuring familiar Lexington themes such as horses and bourbon. To reach as many hearts as possible, the tourist information center worked closely with several local elementary schools, turning this marketing effort into a homework assignment for kids. The children are asked to complete the postcards (except the bourbon one), VisitLEX committing itself to the mission of posting the cutest and funniest ones on social media before sending them to the destination.

The effort of helping get local tourism back on track is supported by a video that shows why postcards are a great way to send greetings to someone close. The Post(Vaccine)Cards are distributed around town at local bars and restaurants that VisitLEX has partnered with. But non-residents can grab them too, by downloading them for free at VisitLEX’s website.
