Global warming is as real as it gets. But still, there are some people who keep questioning it. Like President Donald Trump, who thinks global warming is nothing else but a hoax. Now, how do you convince one of the most powerful leaders of the world that what’s happening to the environment is real? How do you make people aware of climate change? Well, you give the “Doubting Thomas” something concrete to believe in. If these people think climate change isn’t real, you do your best to bring climate change to them.

Just like the Finnish climate group, Melting Ice, did a few months ago. Three young men working in the creative field got tired of talking and they wanted to do something big and acted on it. Just then, they heard an interesting rumor: President Trump wants to join the other American presidents whose faces are carved into Mount Rushmore. Mr. Trump aims high, doesn’t he?

So, the NGO didn’t let him down. Together with Helsinki-based creative agency SEK, the organization gave the 45th American president what he wanted with all his heart: a sculpture to honor his legacy. But contrary to what people expected, this sculpture isn’t carved on the famous Mount Rushmore. Because he happens to be a climate change denialist, who threatened to pull the USA out from the Paris climate agreement, Donald Trump’s face was carved in nothing else other than ice. Yup, ice. He got what he deserved: a sculpture threatened to melt pretty soon.

For this week’s #ThrowBrandThursday, we present you with Project Trumpmore, a campaign that aims higher than Mr. Trump himself. To show that climate change is really taking place, the creatives carved the president’s face in an ice block and placed it in the busiest square of Helsinki. But that was just a glimpse of what the project should look like and what it’s really about.

The real purpose of the campaign is to sculpt the President’s face on a block of Arctic ice. But for that, funds are needed. Only if people get involved, either by likes, shares, word of mouth, or even funding, the NGO’s dream will finally come true and they will be able to build a 115 feet tall monument in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. Then, we can start watching if it melts or not. Mr. Trump will probably tweet about it.

“Our starting point was to create something concrete, something people can see and something that makes climate change visual. In general, we believe that a DIY-attitude appeals to people, and it’s certainly the same thing which got us started,” says Nicolas Prieto, the chairman of the association Melting Ice, which stands behind Project Trumpmore.

Because it is quite a huge challenge, the chairman also asks for people’s help, which can come from donating money, or again talking about the project on social media. But if the project materializes, do you think it will melt or it will stay there with the president’s face forever? Let us know by sharing your opinion in the comment section below!
